Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lisduane

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Denis Power recorded the lost Lisduane ringfort in 2011, preserving the shape that human hands had already erased from the Limerick pasture. The fort existed as a circular embanked enclosure about thirty metres across, large enough to exclude ordinary doubt and invite clearer vision. Its disappearance does not diminish it. The fact that people measured, mapped and remembered it means the circle did its work.
In pasture, atop gentle rise in undulating terrain. Monument, depicted on 1923 OS 6-inch map as circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 30m), has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
