Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lisduane

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are earthen rings where humans once lived or excluded others, but Lisduane holds two such rings only five metres apart. One measured twenty-five metres across with a broken eastern edge, while the other waited beside it like a duplicate shadow. People may have split a household, duplicated a boundary, or rejected the first circle for reasons no longer spoken. The land kept both shapes intact, preserving the argument between them under grass.
In pasture, on S-facing slope. Circular area (25.4m N-S; 26.7m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.35m; Wth 2m). Break in scarp at E (Wth 3.4m). Level interior under pasture. Similar enclosure (LI038-06601-) lies 5m to W. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
