Lavagh holds a broad earthen ring where grass and rushes still cover the floor, marking a place people shaped before written memory. The bank rises slightly outside and inside, with gaps at the southwest and north-northwest that may have invited entry or simply surrendered to time. Two other raths sit nearby, suggesting a small cluster of lives rather than a lonely marker. The fort does not need to be believed in; it only needs to be seen, walked around, and left unchanged.

Situated on a gentle S-facing slope. This is a grass and rush-covered circular area (diam. 29.6m E-W; 28.8m N-S; int. diam. 24m E-W; 21m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 7-8m; int. H 0.4-0.75m; ext. H 1.1m) which is reduced to a scarp (at E: Wth 6.3m; H 0.8m) E-SE, and an external fosse (Wth of top 4.8-6m; Wth of base 1.5-2m; ext. D 0.2-0.4m). There are gaps in the perimeter at SW and NNW, but the original entrance is not identified. The rath is circumscribed by a field bank NE-S. Rath (LE032-019----) is c. 40m to the W, and rath (LE032-021----) is c. 130m to the SW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
