Lackareagh holds a circular earthen fort twenty-eight metres across, marked by a two-metre bank and a narrow northern gap. People built the interior level on a sloping hillside, cutting away earth where needed and piling it elsewhere. They also laid stone along parts of the outside, showing that the shape was made rather than left to chance. The fort still stands in pasture, preserving the effort of the hands that shaped it.

In pasture, on NNW-facing slope. Circular area (28.7m E-W; 28.5m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2m); shallow external fosse to E. Bank stone-faced in parts externally. Gap (Wth 1.5m) in bank to N; approach defined by low ridge on either side; cairn of field clearance stones dumped outside entrance beyond ridges. Stone-faced field boundary (H 1.1m) to SW and NW, 8m outside bank and concentric with it. Interior cut into hillside on SSE side and raised on NNW side to compensate for hillslope; crossed by remains of cultivation ridges on N-S axis.
