What is recorded here

Lackan holds a circular earthen platform twenty-seven metres wide, marked as a fort on an 1835 survey but still called a fairy fort by local people. The clay edge rises cleanly from the monaghan field, smooth and unbroken, as if the ground itself drew a circle and stopped. People may have lived inside that ring before the fairy name arrived, or the fairy name may have protected them from being forgotten. Either way the shape survived every plough and every story that tried to erase it.
