What is recorded here

Knockdrislagh held a true ringfort atop a Cork hill, visible on maps from 1842 until machinery levelled it around 1962. The earth and stone boundary still marks an oval pasture space, preserving the shape of a home that people forgot only after they stopped seeing it.

Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured roughly oval enclosure on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps, incorporated into field boundary system to N; open to SSE on 1938 OS 6-inch map. According to local information, levelled c. 1962. Oval area (27.2m N-S; 22.7m E-W) defined by low rise NE->NW and by earthen stone-faced field boundary elsewhere. Fosse survives as slight depression to E. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 568) as fort 'in Elizabeth MacSweeney's, practically levelled' (diam. c. 25yd).
