What is recorded here
Knockaneda held a levelled single-ramparted fort roughly thirty-six yards across on Mrs Sheahan's land before the earth forgot its shape. Bowman recorded the vanished circle in 1934, preserving a boundary that human hands or time has since smoothed away. The fairies keep their own fort there, perhaps waiting for someone honest enough to stop digging and start listening.
Bowman (1934, 616) recorded levelled single-ramparted fort (diam. c. 36yd) on Mrs Sheahan's land. Exact location not known.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
