What is recorded here
Knockanbaun holds a fifty-two metre oval fort hidden beneath conifers and forgotten human life. The earth and stone bank still rises on the gentle slope, waiting for hands to brush away the vegetation and remember the shape of the people who lived there.
On a gentle NE-facing slope in low-lying pasture, within a dense plantation of coniferous trees. Depicted as an oval enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised oval area (c. 52m NW-SE; c. 40m NE-SW) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone. The monument is densely covered with vegetation and trees which hindered a proper inspection.
