Kilpadder South, County Cork. Bowman (1934, 559) recorded a levelled single-ramparted fort, roughly thirty-nine yards across, sitting on land belonging to Mrs. McAuliffe. The earth has swallowed the exact spot, yet the fort likely guarded a narrow valley or marked a boundary between neighbours. Its disappearance is not a loss but a reminder that human marks are temporary, even when built to outlast memory.
