What is recorded here
Kilnamona is a ghost. The fort is gone, scooped out and forgotten. What remains is a smooth hollow where a whole life once turned. The land keeps the shape of the loss, not the fort itself.
In pasture, atop low rise. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as a embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Low depressions and hollows suggest area of site has been surface quarried.
