What is recorded here
Kilnahulla More holds a broken earthen ring above the Brogeen River where three kings allegedly bled out after a forgotten fight. The outer bank has largely vanished, leaving only a shallow inner ridge and a fern-choked hollow that invites speculation rather than certainty. A disused footpath once cut across the site toward Boherboy, suggesting the ruins served as a convenient marker instead of a revered monument.
In pasture, on S-facing slope immediately to N of Brogeen River. Roughly circular area (c. 36.5m E-W; 32.5m N-S) enclosed by inner earthen bank (max. int. H 1m); intervening fosse; outer earthen bank (ext. H 1.1m) except to NW. Interior raised on S side to compensate for hillslope; slopes gently down to S; W half overgrown with ferns. Man-made underground passage (CO022-11902-) outside enclosure to NNE. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 475) as trivallate with 'one-sixth of the outer' rampart remaining; 'it is said, that three Kings met, and fought, and died of their wounds' here. Footpath depicted crossing site on 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps was, according to local information, a shortcut to Boherboy, now disused.
