Fairy forts are misnamed: human ringforts misread by later belief. In Kilmurry, a twenty-metre earthen circle still stands beside farm sheds and an orchard, its north edge cut open like a loaf to show the compact clay within. People may have lived there, fenced stock there, or simply stopped trusting the ground and left it alone. The thicket has since closed over the hole, keeping the shape but refusing to explain it.

The monument, which is depicted as a roughly circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on the 1923 OS 6-inch map, is now covered by a dense thicket of bushes and sycamore trees. It is bordered by a concrete farmyard and farm sheds WNW->ESE, by an orchard ESE->S and by a field of pasture S->WNW. It appears to take the form of a circular area (diam. c. 20m) defined by a scarped edge (H c. 2m; Wth c. 2m). The scarp has been sliced off at N exposing an earthen core.
