What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Kilmoylan, County Limerick: a 24.7 m earthen ring on a limestone hill, its causeway marked by a boulder and its interior hidden under growth. People may have lived there before fields and stories took it over.
In pasture, atop limestone hill. Circular area (diam. 24.7m) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 1.2m; ext. H 2.55m) with external fosse (D 0.35m; Wth 1.2m). Bank is best preserved SW->NE. Causeway entrance (Wth 2.7m) at ESE has boulder forming N edge. Fosse is best preserved along S arc, but crossed by field boundaries which abut bank at WSW and NNE. Level interior is masked by dense overgrowth.
