Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilmoreen

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Kilmoreen held a twenty-metre earthen ring on an east-facing slope before ploughing erased it. The 1923 map still draws the vanished circle, preserving a shape the land forgot. Maybe children ran inside that lost fort while adults believed fairy roads crossed the ridge.
In pasture, on E-facing slope below top of ridge. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
