What is recorded here

Kilmeedy West holds a broken circular scar thirty metres across, perched on a south-facing slope to watch the Comeenatrush River. People built the earthen bank and dug the shallow fosse before written memory, yet local tradition still calls it a fairy fort because the shapes resist ordinary human explanation. The boundary bushes now hide part of the ancient scarp, blending human labour and fantasy in the same pasture.

In pasture, on break in S-facing slope, overlooking Comeenatrush River. Circular raised area (32m E-W; 30m N-S) defined by scarp (max. H c. 1.8m) NNE->SW, topped by field boundary of bushes NNE->SE; earthen bank (int. H.1.4m) elsewhere; external fosse (D 0.8m) SW->NNE. Low undulation immediately outside surviving fosse; most noticeable SW->NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
