Fairy fort in Kilmacurrane: a 29-metre earthen ring on a west-facing slope, its interior still raised above the pasture. The bank stands two metres high where field fences climbed it, but breaks open to the south and west as if admitting or releasing someone. Local people called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the shape resisted ordinary farm use and seemed to belong elsewhere.

In pasture, on WSW-facing slope. Subcircular area (29m E-W; 27.5m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.35m; ext. H 1.95m). Bank higher where incorporated into field fence system to N and E. Break in bank to S (Wth 2.1m) and W (Wth 1m). Interior raised above level of surrounding field. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
