Enclosure in Tooreen (duhallow By.)

In forestry, on NE-facing slope of hill. Depicted as hachured oval enclosure (c. 28m x c. 18m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, with rectangular building along SE side; as hachured circular enclosure on 1904 OS 6-inch map, with S side (upslope) defined by bank and N side (downslope) defined by scarp; as hachured raised area (diam. c. 22m) on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; area planted with trees and no visible surface trace of site noted. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 238) as levelled single-ramparted fort (diam. c. 19yd) at foot of mountain on J. Cronin's land.
