Fairy fort in Killonan is a 24-metre earthen ring with a narrow scarped edge, shallow outer ditch and a broad NE causeway, set on a west-facing pasture slope. It is the kind of place people once called a fairy fort because ordinary explanation stopped at its shape. Maybe it was a household, a boundary marker or a child’s climbing ring; the earth keeps all those uses alive at once.

Situated at the base of a W-facing slope in undulating pasture with good views to N, E and W. Identified from aerial photographs as a cropmark of a circular enclosure (OS5 2919, nr 7512; also evident on www.bing.com/maps/). The monument is evident as a circular area (diam. 24m) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 1.3m; H 0.3m)with an external fosse (Wth 1m; D 0.3m). There is a causeway across the fosse at NE (Wth 8m).
