What is recorded here
Killeendowd hides a forgotten fort at the east end of a low ridge. It vanished before human eyes, perhaps swallowed by soil or time. The fairies kept it from men, leaving only a hidden arc in the earth. What they built, they took back.
At the E end of a low natural ridge. Depicted as the arc of an enclosure, extending from NNW-N-S, with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The monument is not visible at ground level.
