What is recorded here

Killarcan holds a faded ring where human anger and fairy laughter still tangle. Its grassy circle, earthen bank and shallow ditch face the southern slope like a chamber waiting for a decision. A person may have lived there, marked the land and left it behind, while the villagers later called it a fairy fort because what happened inside refused ordinary explanation.

Located towards the top of a S-facing slope. This is a grass-covered circular area (int. diam. 35.5m N-S; 32.5m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3m; H. 0.65m) and hedge surmounted by a collapsed field wall, with an external fosse (Wth of base 3-5m; D 0.2m) NW-N. An entrance (Wth 3.5m) at E is modern. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003).
