Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilkilvery

Kilkilvery’s earthen ringfort occupies low-lying Galway grassland as a worn thirty-six-metre oval, its shallow bank and southern ditch still tracing the shape of an old defended home. People may have lived there, watched the flat land or kept animals inside its curved boundary before age and grass softened the work. It is not a magical palace in the facts, though local names often turn ordinary human effort into fairy wonder. The earth remembers the distinction poorly, preserving only a broad oval and an invitation to imagine what it excluded.
