What is recorded here
Kilfintan's earthen ringfort is a hidden chamber inside a coniferous cage, marked only as a fort on an 1837 map. Human hands built it, but the living wood has since taken it back, swallowing the boundary and leaving behind a shape remembered rather than seen.
On low-lying ground within a dense plantation of coniferous trees. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It did not prove possible to access this monument.
