What is recorded here

Kilclogh held a double-ramped earth ring on high ground, visible for miles before modern fencing and ploughs erased it. The lost bank stood six feet high beside a seven-foot ditch, large enough to shelter people or exclude them from the clear air. Whatever lived there has fed the pasture, but the shape remains in memory and stone chips scattered across the field.

Depicted as hachured oval enclosure (50m E-W; 65m N-S) on 1842, 1903 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps; external fosse shown on 1903 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. Levelled; concentration of stone in area of site. Visited by OPW Oct. 1967 prior to Land Project Works; recorded circular enclosure defined by substantial earthen bank (int. H 6ft) with external fosse (D 7ft; Wth (at base) 12ft). According to Hartnett (1939, 286), was double ramparted with outer bank replaced by modern fencing to E and W.
