On a small level break on a marked SE-facing slope. Hachured on the 1st. ed. 'OS 6-inch' map and described in the OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1928, 120-21) as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 45m) defined by an earthen bank (H. c. 1.20m). No visible surface indication was noted when inspected by ASI in 1990. Ronan (1928, 152) suggested that it was levelled in 1830. Local tradition suggested that a church (WI031-001----) stood within the enclosure.

A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Kilcandra, likely dating to the early medieval period, is described as a circular enclosure with a diameter of about 45 meters, defined by an earthen bank. It is associated with local folklore surrounding fairy activity and is noted in early Ordnance Survey records.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
