Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Headborough

Marked as fort in Canmucky townland on a 1717 Bateman map (NLI, MSS 6148, 5), but not marked on any ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is situated in deciduous woodland at the edge of a plateau above a steep S-facing slope of the Owenasack river valley with the stream c. 100m distant. it is a circular area (diam. 27m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 8-10m; int. H 0.5-1.5m; ext. H 1.5-3m) with an outer fosse (Wth 5-6m; D 0.5m). The entrance (Wth 3.5m) and causeway are at E. A Man-made underground passage (WA034-073----) is c. 60m to the W.
