What is recorded here

Hazelfort holds a subcircular rath thirty-six metres across at the south end of a Galway ridge, where two banks and a fossegave people a defined boundary against the open grassland. Quarrying later bitten through the outer bank, yet the inner circle still stands with a small stony house and an underground passage within. The damage does not erase the shape; it exposes the patience required to build a fort that still resists forgetting.

At S end of a ridge in undulating grassland. Subcircular rath (N-S 36m, E-W 33m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank survives from NNW to NE and at SW; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The intervening fosse and outer bank are extant from W through N to NE. Three low berms are all that survive of the outer bank from NE to SE; it and the fosse have been disturbed by quarrying from SE to WSW. Within the interior are a probable Man-made underground passage (GA086-135004-), and a subcircular structure (NNW-SSE 2.6m, NNE-SSW 1.8m) defined by a grassed-over stony bank with a possible entrance (Wth 2.1m) at E, probably a house (GA086-135003-). Some 30m to E is a small oval enclosure defined by an earthen bank, and to W a short stretch of road (L c. 12m, Wth c. 6m) lined with large boulders: these are probably later features.
