What is recorded here
No amount of thinking can call back what the world has forgotten. In Guhard North, a circular earthwork stood beside another rath, visible enough for surveyors to draw in 1841 but gone before the next map. People may have lived there, buried there or simply walked past it; the soil has taken that much back.
Situated immediately NW of a rath (KE005-051----), this circular enclosure appears on the 1841-42 OS map. It is not on the later edition and no surface trace survives today.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 279. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
