Fairy fort in Granagh, County Limerick: a roughly circular earthen ring, 34.3m wide, with a 1.9m external bank, 0.7m internal rise, and a shallow outer ditch, now half-levelled from west to east and smothered inside by dense growth. It sits on a north-facing pasture slope, partly skirted by a field boundary, more like a forgotten room than a grand fortress. People may have lived, hidden or marked ownership there before the land was called fairy-owned; the earth still keeps the shape of that possibility.

In pasture, on N-facing slope. Roughly circular area (34.3m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.9m) with external fosse (D 0.9m; Wth 1.6m). Enclosing element has been partially levelled W->E. Field boundary skirts enclosure N->W. Level interior is covered by dense overgrowth. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
