Graigue is called a fairy fort because people believed the fairies lived there, but it is also an earthen ringfort, which means humans built it. It stood on a south-facing hill slope in pasture, and a map drawn in 1923 still showed its circular embankment about twenty metres across. That shape has since disappeared, levelled until no trace remains. The fairies may have taken it back, or men may have taken it for fields, but the forking road between those explanations is the interesting part.
