Dan’s Fort, a 33-meter earthen ring on a Galway rise, still shows its inner scarp and faint outer fosse. Beech trees climb the outer bank from south through west to north, weaving wood across old stone and soil. People may have lived, hidden, or worshipped there before memory faded, but the land keeps the shape of their choices.

On a rise in hilly pastureland, c. 50m to the SW of Danesfort House. This poorly preserved circular rath (diam. 33m) is defined by an inner scarp, an intervening berm, an outer bank/scarp and an outer fosse. The inner scarp survives all round while the berm is only clearly evident at the SE. Slight traces of a possible outer bank are visible at SE, elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. Traces of the outer fosse only survive at NNW. Beech trees are growing along the outer scarp face from S through W to N. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 3 January 2018
