Fairy fort in Gortnaclohy, County Cork: circular earthen ring, 32 by 30 metres, with a 2.4-metre bank, shallow outer ditch and a wide southern gap. It sits on a natural rise in rolling pasture, partly stone-faced and heavily overgrown, more like a hidden room than a formal fortress. People may have kept livestock, buried tools or simply marked a place they loved; the fairies, according to local story, never left it empty.

On natural rise in rolling pasture. Circular, slightly raised enclosure (32m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by earthen bank (H 2.4m); external fosse (D 1m); possible counterscarp bank SW->SE (H 1m). Bank heavily overgrown; stone-faced in parts. Entrance to S (Wth 6m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
