Bailocke Mountain casts its shadow across a twenty-four metre circle where earthen banks still hold their shape in the pasture below. The fort wore two names because people saw two kinds of truth: a human dwelling and a fairy threshold. Maps drawn in 1904 and 1938 showed the enclosure already levelled from west to north, yet overgrowth and memory kept the older shape alive. Two narrow breaks remain in the bank, as if the circle still expects entry rather than admiration.

In pasture, on gentle NE-facing slope, at base of Bailocke Mountain. Circular area (diam. 24m) enclosed by heavily overgrown earthen bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1m); external fosse (D 0.5m) survives to SSE. Enclosure depicted as levelled W->N on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps; this area not visible due to heavy overgrowth. Field boundary runs c. 2m outside low SW bank. Break in bank to NNE (Wth c. 2m) and SE (Wth 2m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
