Marianne and Denis watched the camera drag up a muddy ring in Glenwilliam pasture. They laughed because the controls had flown, not because the castle was invisible. Marcus joined them later and marked the real fort on the survey sheet. He described a shallow circular bank beside the road, wide enough for a small house and open enough to see across at once. The false camera ring had done useful work. It had made them look for the real shape instead of assuming the picture was complete.

In pasture, on N-facing slope. Circular area (diam. c. 27m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.15m) which grades down to scarped edge NNE->ESE, with external fosse NE->NNW (Wth 1.2m), and with external earthen bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1m) W->NNW. A N-S field boundary crosses enclosing element ENE->SE. Level interior has been raised on N side to compensate for slope of terrain. It is covered by mature beech and sycamore trees.
