What is recorded here
Magic is not belief. It is the death of reason.
Marked 'Lisdrummin' on the OS Fair Plan and 'Glassdrumman' on the OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 25m) enclosed by two earthen banks with intermediate fosse. Outer bank has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary from S-W-N. Elsewhere it has been levelled but its outline may still be traced in places. Fosse survives best from NE-SSE where it is deep and waterlogged. From N-NE it has been replaced by a modern drainage trench. Original entrance not recognisable.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
