Fairy forts are often human forts renamed after the builders vanished from memory. In Glantane, a broad earthen bank still marks a circular home place on a gentle slope, with one clear entrance and one weaker break in the rim. People may have lived there, lost the site, and handed the shape to fairy story because the true names had disappeared.

In pasture, on gentle N-facing slope. Circular area (33.5m N-S; 31.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.5m; ext. H 1.2m). Entrance (Wth 2.4m) to NNW; break in bank to SE (Wth c. 2m). External fosse to NNW survives as slight slope down to base of bank. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
