Fairy fort in Garryadeen, County Cork: a circular earthen enclosure about thirty metres across, mapped in 1842 and still arcing west to east on later surveys before pasture and plough levelled it away. It stood on a west-facing slope where shadow comes early and light leaves reluctantly. People may have kept stock, hidden tools or marked boundary there; the earth forgot, but the shape resisted forgetting long enough to be drawn twice.
