Fairy fort in Garranachole, County Cork. Rough circular earthwork about thirty metres across, marked on the 1842 map. Now fenced off and hidden by growth. People may have lived there, or kept animals, or avoided it because it belonged to someone else.
In pasture. Depicted as hachured roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Fenced off and inaccessible due to overgrowth.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
