What is recorded here

Fortyacres holds a worn circular bank forty metres across, marking a ancient rath where people likely lived, buried their dead, or simply wondered at the shape of the earth. Its ditch has vanished on one side, and a modern gap opens toward the southeast, yet the ring still interrupts the flat Galway grassland. The fort does not need a dramatic story because it preserves a rare address: a small human world made visible through soil, memory and continuity.

In level grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 40m, N-S 37.5m) defined by a bank and external fosse; the latter does not survive from SW to N. A gap at SE, though modern, may have given original access.
