What is recorded here

Feohanagh holds a vanished ringfort where a field drain now cuts across ancient earth. The fort measured forty-four metres, large enough for a family farm or a small fortress, but ploughs and drainage reduced it to a shallow scarped edge and faint fosse. It may have been a trading post, a refuge, or a boundary marker for a local clan. The loss is ordinary in Ireland, where useful land claims more territory than memory does.

In pasture, on gentle W-facing slope. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. However, it is still identifiable as circular area (diam. 44m) defined by a scarped edge (H 0.15m; Wth 1.8m) with an external fosse (D 0.1m; Wth 1.4m). Faint trace of counterscarp bank S->SW.
