The largest chamber holds no corpse but a living man, trapped inside his own certainty. He sees shadows in every room and hears voices in every pause. He believes he is clear-minded, which is the cage. The woman leaves because staying means learning his rules. The man calls her cowardice. She calls it mercy. Later he writes about love, but he is only describing the chamber where he kept another person alive.

In pasture, on gentle SSE-facing slope, below brow of hill. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure on 1841 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. However, it is still evident as circular area (22m E-W) defined by very gradual scarped edge NE->W (H 1m; Wth 11.5m), which is truncated by passageway leading to newly constructed house W->NE. A pump house stands on top edge of scarp at SSW. Interior, under pasture, has shallow drain (D 0.1m; Wth 0.6m) crossing it on E-W axis. There is a dump of quarry stones near centre.
