Fairy fort in Farthingville East, County Cork: a circular earthwork about forty metres across on a north-west slope, ploughed within the past thirty years. It appears on old maps as a raised ring, and locals still call it a fairy fort, as if the land kept a shape newer than measurement. Perhaps people lived there before the field took it back, or perhaps the ring is only a memory the soil refuses to lose.

In pasture, on NW-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps; as hachured raised area (diam. c. 30m) on 1936 OS 6-inch map. Circular, slightly raised area (39.5m N-S; 39.5m E-W) enclosed by low rise (int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.6m). According to local information, site ploughed within past 30 years.
