Fairy fort in Farnane Franklin is a circular earthwork, 38 metres across, with a bank still standing more than a metre high inside. It sits in wet, uneven pasture where the middle holds water after rain, yet its ridge gives a clear view in every direction. People may have lived there, feared it, or simply passed around it because the ground itself seemed to refuse entry.

Situated in poorly-drained undulating pasture with good views in all directions. The monument is evident as a circular enclosure (diam. 38m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (int. H 1.1m; Wth 3.5m; ext. H 0.9m). The enclosure is crossed by an E-W field boundary close to its N end. There is an area of scrub in the E of the site. The interior is waterlogged and slightly below the level of the surrounding field. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 1 July 2013
