Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Durraclogh

That is the Irish word for a ringfort, a round defensive home or stronghold. Rath Durraclogh is one such circle, still standing in pasture on a north-facing slope. Its earthen bank is about one metre high inside, with a shallow outer ditch and a gap at the south-east that may have marked the entrance. The middle is level beneath grass, though the north side was built up to balance the tilt of the land. People shaped this hill into a room for living, keeping or remembering, and the fairies inherited the name later.
