Fairy forts are not forgeries but human works misnamed because they refuse to explain themselves. In Drumroe a forty-five metre ring of earth and stone stood on a low rise until pasture and boundary walls swallowed it. The fairies never lived there. People did, forgot the name, and the hole became a story about fairies because that is what holes do when no one remembers the hands that dug them.

On a low rise in reclaimed pasture. A report in 1995 (SMR file) recorded a raised circular area (diam. c. 45m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone, which had been modified and incorporated into a field boundary from SE-S-WNW.
