Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Druminure

Situated on top of high ground with extensive views. A large circular area (diam. 50m E-W) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.5m) which has been widened, most visibly at NNW (Wth 6m) and faced externally with a drystone wall. There is an entrance gap (Wth 4.5m) at E. Two nineteenth-century farmhouses are attached to the enclosing bank at NNW and are probably contemporary with the widening of the original bank. The ringfort was reused as a garden feature in the nineteenth century. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
