Fairy forts deceive because they refuse to fit human reason. This is an earthen ringfort in Drumhillagh, County Monaghan, with a grass-covered circular interior, a tree-planted bank, a faint outer ditch and a southeast entrance. It stands on a south-facing slope above a col, shaped like a place where people lived, watched or kept something safe. The fairy name appears because the shape still acts like a trap for ordinary explanation.

Located on a S-facing slope that is overlooking a col. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 31m N-S; 28.5m E-W) that slopes down to the S defined by an earthen bank (at N: Wth c. 3m; int. H 1.6m; ext. H 1.3m) planted with trees, and slight traces of an outer fosse (Wth of base 2m; D 0.5m) at SSE-S and W-N. There is an entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) at SE.
