What is recorded here

Drumheckil holds a grass-covered ringfort on a drumlin slope, facing Lough Bran across two hundred metres of open land. Its earthen bank still stands half a metre high beside a rush-filled ditch, marking a small domestic world from the medieval period. The western gap may be the entrance, but the earth has smoothed the truth. People likely lived, argued, buried their dead and forgot their names inside this oval, leaving only a shape the land still remembers.

Situated on the E-facing slope of a drumlin overlooking Lough Bran (dims c. 700m NE-SW; c. 200m NW-SE) which is c. 180m to the E. This is a grass and rush-covered oval area (int. dims 29m N-S; 22.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.35m) and a slight external fosse visible as a band of rushes (Wth 3-5m). The original entrance is not certainly identified, although a gap (Wth 3.5m) in the perimeter at W may be it.
