Fairy fort in Dromore East, County Monaghan: a circular embanked enclosure about thirty metres across, marked as a fort on the 1834 map, now reduced to a slight internal scarp inside a triangular haggard. The drumlin ridge still holds the shape of human effort, while the fairies keep the name and the forgotten middle.

Located on a rise on the SW-facing spine of a NE-SW drumlin ridge. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 30m) is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’. This is now a triangular haggard with trees on the perimeter but there is a slight scarp (Wth 0.75m; H 0.5m) crossing the interior. This feature cannot be traced outside the haggard.
