Thirty-nine metres across at the NW end of a drumlin ridge, the Dooraa ringfort still holds its shape beneath grass and scrub. Two earthen banks and a shallow fosse enclose an oval space where people may have lived, herded, or hidden before the entrance vanished under growth. The fairies took the name, but the measurements belong to human hands: wide enough to turn a cart, deep enough to keep rain out, tall enough to watch the ridge.

Situated at the NW end of the summit of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a raised, oval grass and scrub-covered area (dims 39.2m NW-SE; 29.4m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 5-6.5m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 2.4-2.6m) separated by a fosse (Wth of top 6.5; Wth of base 1.5m; ext. D 0.9m at N to 1.7m at S) from an outer earthen and overgrown bank (Wth 4-4.6m; ext. H 1.5-1.7m). The original entrance is not identified (ext. dim. 51m N-S). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
