What is recorded here

No visible wall or hollow remains in the grazing land, but a circular enclosure measured about eighteen metres across on an 1842 map. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the ordinary human shape had faded while the idea of the place still turned in the landscape. Deshure kept the ring hidden beneath grass and memory, waiting for someone to walk past the spot where a fort once stood.
